Report on Employment Situations of Elderly Persons (2015)

99.2% of the companies with 31 or more employees implemented employment securing measures for elderly persons.

The ratio of the companies whose employees can work up to they become 65 years old or longer if they hope was 72.5%, an increase of 1.5 point from the previous year.

The ratio of the companies whose employees can work up to they become 70 years old or longer if they hope was 20.1%, an increase of 1.1 point from the previous year.

Monthly Labour Survey (Final Report in August)

Total amount of cash earnings increased by 0.4% and contractual cash earnings increased by 0.3% (full-time employees 0.5%, part-time employees 1.7%) from a year earlier.

Special cash earnings increased by 1.9% from a year earlier. Scheduled cash earnings increased by 0.2% and non-scheduled cash earnings increased by 1.6%. Real wage (total cash earnings) increased by 0.1% from a year earlier and real wage (contractual cash earnings) unchanged from a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked by manufacturing industry workers at business establishments with 5 or more employees increased by 0.5% from the previous month (seasonally adjusted).

Indexes of Business Conditions August 2015 (Revised Release)

The Coincident Index of Composite Index (CI, revised figures, 2010=100) in August was 112.2, a decrease of 0.9 point.And 3 months backward moving average increased for 0.07 point, and 7 months backward moving average decreased for 0.37 point. So the Assessment of Coincident Index was “Weakening” (The same as the previous month)

The Leading Index was 103.5, a decrease of 1.5 point, and the Lagging Index was 115.1, a decrease of 0.9 point.

Indices of Industrial Production (September)

The index of industrial production (seasonally adjusted, 2010=100) increased by 1.0% from the previous month.

According to the Survey of Production Forecast in Manufacturing, Production is expected to increase in October and decrease in November.

Labour Force Survey (September)

The unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) was 3.4%, unchanged from the previous month. That for men was 3.6%, increased by 0.1 point from the previous month and that for women was 3.1%, decreased by 0.1 point from the previous month.

The number of unemployed persons (seasonally adjusted) was 2.28 million, increased by 40 thousand from the previous month.

The number of employees was 56.87 million, increased by 510 thousand from the previous month.

Among them, the number of regular employee was 33.48 million, increased by 210 thousand from the previous year and the number of non-regular employee was 19.86 million, increased by 160 thousand from the previous year.

Active job openings-to-applicants ratio (seasonally adjusted) was 1.24, increased by 0.01 point from the previous month.

The number of monthly active job openings (person(s)) (seasonally adjusted) was decreased by 0.7% from the previous month and the number of monthly active applications (person(s)) (seasonally adjusted) was decreased by 1.4% from the previous month.

New job openings-to-applicants ratio (seasonally adjusted) was 1.86, increased by 0.01 point from the previous month.

Active job openings-to-applicants ratio for regular staff (seasonally adjusted) was 0.77, increased by 0.01 point from the previous month.

Family Income and Expenditure Survey (September)

The average monthly income for a worker’s household with 2 or more family members was decreased by 1.6% in real terms from the same month a year before.

The change over the year of wages & salaries was -1.0% in real terms from the previous year (household heads: -2.4% in real terms, spouse of household: 10.1% in real terms).

The average monthly consumption expenditures for a worker’s household with 2 or more family members was decreased by 1.7% in real terms from the same month a year before.

Consumer Price Index (September)

The consumer price index for Japan in September2015 was 103.9(2010=100), the same level as the previous year. Omitting Fresh food, the comprehensive index was 103.4, down 0.1% from the previous year.

The consumer price index for Ku-area of Tokyo in October 2015(preliminary) was 102.3(2010=100), up 0.1% over the year. Omitting Fresh food, the comprehensive index was 102.0, down 0.2% over the year.

Monthly Survey on Service Industries (Preliminary Report in August)

The monthly sales amount of service industry by industry of business activity in August 2015 was 28.5 trillion yen, an increase of 2.8 % from the same month the year before. The total number of persons working at the location of establishment in the industry by industry of establishment and enterprise, etc. was 28,730 thousand person, an increase of 0.9% from the same month the year before.
