Real GDP (Gross Domestic Product) growth rate (Seasonally Adjusted) increased by 1.2% (4.8% on annual basis) from the previous quarters

Of real GDP growth rate, 1.0% was contributed by domestic demand and 0.2% by external demand.

The index of industrial production (seasonally adjusted) decreased by 1.5 % from the previous month. This index is expected to decrease in February and to increase in March.

Consumer Price Index (January)

The consumer price index was 100.0, unchanged from the previous year. And in the Ward- areas of Tokyo in February, it was 99.5, unchanged from the previous year.

Family Income and Expenditure Survey (January)

The average monthly income for workers' household increased by 0.7% in real values from the same month the year before.

The unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) was 4.0%, unchanged from the previous month. That for men was 4.1%, decreased by 0.1 points from the previous month, that for women was 3.8%, increased by 0.1 points from the previous month.

The number of unemployed persons decreased by 280 thousand from a year earlier to 2.64 million.

The number of employees (seasonally adjusted) increased by 230 thousand people to 54.96 million people from the previous month.

The ratio of active job openings to applicants (seasonally adjusted) was 1.06, decreased by 0.01 points from the previous month.

By prefecture, the unemployment rate (estimated figure) was the highest in Okinawa at 7.7%, followed by Aomori at 6.0%. Fukui was the lowest at 2.3%.

Monthly Labour Survey (Preliminary Report in January)

Total amount of cash earnings (for business establishments with 5 or more employees) was decreased by 1.4% from a year earlier, and scheduled cash earnings was decreased by 0.3% from a year earlier.

Non-scheduled hours worked in manufacturing (for business establishments with 5 or more employees, seasonally adjusted) decreased by 1.4% from the previous month.
