Dr. Takeshi Inagami born in 1944 took office from the 1st October 2007 as President of the Japan Institute for Labour Policy and Training (JILPT: Independent Administrative Agency) after resigning from Professor of Faculty of Business Administration of Hosei University.
His academic career began from the nomination as Research Associate of Sociology Department of the University of Tokyo in 1969. After moving to Faculty of Sociology of Hosei University, he was promoted to Professor in 1983. Then, nearly after a decade, he moved to the University of Tokyo as Professor of Sociology. Moreover, he was assigned to Dean of Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology and the Faculty of Letters of the University of Tokyo from 2003-2005. He has been Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo from 2005.
Other than the presidency of JILPT, at the moment, he has committed to such public activities as Chairman of Pension Committee of Social Security Council of Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and also Chair of Special Committee of Industrial Relations of Japan Productivity Center.
