The unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) was 4.2%, which decreased by 0.1 points from the previous month.

For men, it decreased by 0.1points to 4.3%. For women, it was 4.2% the same as the previous month.

The ratio of active job opening rate (seasonally adjusted) was 0.97, the same as the previous month.

The number of employees (seasonally adjusted) increased 1.5 points to 54.56 million people from the previous month.

The number of unemployed people decreased by 240 thousand to 2.85 million from a year earlier. This marks the 28th consecutive month with a decrease.

The index of industrial production (seasonally adjusted) increased by 0.2% from the previous month, an increase for the 2nd consecutive month.

The number of employees decreased by 3.2% (APR; 0.7%) compared with the previous survey conducted 5 years ago. The number of employees (per each establishment) increased to 9.1people from 8.7people in 1999.

Monthly Labor Survey (Preliminary Report in September, Summer Bonus)

Total cash earnings (for establishments with 5 or more employees) decreased by 1.3% from a year earlier. Contractual cash earnings increased by 0.6%.

Non-scheduled hours worked in manufacturing (for establishments with 5 or more employees, seasonally adjusted) decreased by 2.4% from the previous month.

Regular workers (for establishments with 5 or more employees) increased by 0.5% from a year earlier.

Theaverage of summer bonus was 410,618 yen, an increase of 1.3% over the previous year.
